Snow and ice cap rocks on Oregon's Roaring River.
Coated by ice and then by snow, the caps on these boulders seem to float in mid-air. Faint light in the bottom of this deep canyon just above the Clackamas River forced a long exposure which causes the water to blur, which enhances the floating effect. The use of Fuji Velvia film resulted in deep, saturated colors and high contrast, hallmarks of that film.

Roaring River is a National Wild and Scenic River and is home to several critical anadromous fish stocks. The Roaring River Watershed is proposed as a new Wilderness Area.
