I took this picture of an ice-covered cliff during a prolonged freeze in the mid-1990's. The location where this photo was taken is on the Clackamas River between Ripplebrook and Estacada near the mouth of the Roaring River. I'm not sure if the rust-colored stains in the ice are mineral or organic in nature. They could be mineral stains, or algae, or decomposed vegetation. One thing that really caught my eye was the extra luminosity of the fringe of ice just above the water surface.
