Bulrushes create interesting reflections in Garrison Lake at the edge of Port Orford on the southern Oregon Coast.
These bulrush stems and their reflections were photographed in Garrison Lake st Port Orford, Oregon, on the southern Oregon coast. There was a light wind creating a riffled surface on the water. The small wavelets coming through the bulrushes created dynamic patterns on the water.

Bulrushes like this are very common in the west. They grow in thick masses in the shallows near the edge of lakes and ponds. Since they grow up to 5 ot 6 feet tall, they make a good background plant for the water garden or garden pond.

The southern Oregon coast where this photo was taken is one of the most scenic sections of coastline in the world. Compared to the northen Oregon coast, it's less populated, less 'touristy', and less heavily visited. There are many Oregon State parks between Coos Bay and the California Border, and while this coastline is very rugged, there a plenty of access points and viewpoints.
