Skunk cabbage is a beautiful wetland plant that suffers from a very unfortunate common name. The "skunk" part of the name is deserved, however. The plant does have an unfortunate and unpleasant odor.
Nonetheless, in the right place the spectacular bloom and huge leaves make an impressive statement. It can be purchased from native plant nurseries and from some water garden nurseries.
