New Spring Rush Spikes Impale a Skeletonized Oregon Ash Leaf from the previoous Fall.
This springtime picture shows newly sprouted common rush spikes (Juncus effusus) that have impaled a skeletonized Oregon Ash (Fraxinus latifolia) leaf from the previous fall.

Rushes are easy to grow, drought tolerant, and make a great background plant around a garden pond or water garden.
