Creek Dogwood and Oregon Ash Display Fall Colors on the Tualatin River.
The red foliage belongs to Creek Dogwood (Cornus sericea), also known as Red Osier Dogwood. This dogwood is a Pacific Northwest native that has become a staple plant of professional landscape designers and now is finding wide use in revegetation projects. It is adaptable, tolerate of a variety of growing conditions, and easy to propagate. If you already have it growing on your property, it can be propagated by layering live branches or by cutting 18" hardwood branches in the late winter or early spring and poking them halfway in the ground.
