Howse Peak and Mt Cephren at Sunrise from Waterfowl Lake
I learned two interesting lessons when I shot this landscape.  I used a polarizer and a graduated neutral density filter to photograph this scene.  It was extremely cold on the fall morning when I shot this; well below freezing. When I was done shooting, I screwed my polarizer back on my stack of filters and put them in my pack.

Later in the day when the temperature was well above freezing, I set up for another shot. I tried to unscrew the polarizer from the stacker and discovered that it was impossible to separate (lesson one). Fortunately, there was a patch of snow nearby. I refroze my filters and was then able to screw them apart with ease (lesson two).

Now I never leave my stack of filters completely snug. When I replace a filter on the stack after using it, I screw it snug, and then back off half a turn.
