This Portland, Oregon kitchen was remodeled by the design-build firm Ravenwood Group. The original inadequate lighting was replaced with efficient recessed lighting that sparkles on the natural gas slide-in range. Venting the range hood through an outside wall with stainless steel ducting frees the designer to locate the range in the most functional place.
The cabinets are modular with an antique ivory finish. Maple butcher block countertops add a warm and friendly tone. The backsplash is composed of rectangular white ceramic tiles set in a running bond pattern, which adds an authentic vintage touch.
The flooring is 12" by 12" linoleum tile, a long-wearing and environmentally friendly choice. Known by the name marmoleum in Europe, linoleum is an all natural flooring material that was considered hopelessly old-fashioned not so long ago.
