This is a photo of spurred lupine, which grows in profusion at the mouth of the Deschutes River in the Columbia River Gorge.
Spurred Lupine (Lupinus laxifloras var. laxiflorus) grows at the dry side of the transition zone between the the wet climate of the western Columbia RIver Gorge and the desert conditions east of the Gorge.
