Photo of a skeletonized Columbia Desert Parsley plant taken on the edge of the cliffs above Rowena Dell in the Nature Conservancy's Tom McCall Preserve.
Columbia Desert Parsley is one of my favorite wildflowers, partly because of its bizarre flowerheads and partly because of its foliage. This photo of the dried skeleton of a Desert Parsley was taken on a fall day that included dramatic lighting and clouds. This scan doesn't do the picture justice.

This photo was taken on the edge of the cliffs above Rowena Dell in the Nature Conservancy's Tom McCall Preserve. there is a glimpse of the Columbia River at the left center of the picture. The hills that disappear into the clouds are in Washington.
