Lupine Surrounded by Bare-stem Desert Parsley at Dalles Mountain Ranch, WA.
Photo of Bare-stem Desert Parsley and Columbia Gorge Broadleaf Lupine in bloom in the Columbia River Gorge.
This photo shows a patch of Columbia Gorge Broad-leaf Lupine (Lupinus latifolius var. thompsonianus) surrounded by Bare-stem Desrt Parsley (Lomatium nudicaule). Along Dalles Mountain Road in Columbia Hills State Park, Washington, these two wildflowers bloom in great abundance in mid-April, along with Northwest Balsamroot.

Generally I find that I take better photos when I get away from the car and start walking, but I have to confess that I shot this picture right on the shoulder of the road.
