Northwest Balsamroot, Lupine, and Barbed Wire Fence on Dalles Mountain Road.
Northwest Balsamroot and lupine in full bloom on Dalles Mountain Road, a popular wildflower viewing location in the Columbia River Gorge.
Here is another photo of Columbia Gorge Broadleaf Lupine (Lupinus latifolia var. thompsonianus) and Northwest Balsamroot (Balsamorhiza deltoidia) taken along Dalles Mountain Road. I shot this one through a barbed wire fence. Lupine and Balsamroot grow intermixed here. They bloom in April, and mid-April is usually the peak time for Balsamroot.
