Cluster Lilies (Brodiaea congesta) are not an especially common wildflower at Catherine Creek, so I felt very lucky one warm spring day when I found this fairly large group in flower under a pine tree along the hiking trail in the bottom of the canyon near an old corral and shed.
When I found them they were mostly in the shadow of the tree, but I could see that they would eventually be lit by the sun. I set up my camera, sat down, and enjoyed the fine day until the sun and shade gave me the dramatic lighting that I wanted.
