The grassy (and mossy) open slope above the Catherine Creek, Washington, parking lot is a great place to see Shooting Stars when they are in season. Seven different varieties of Dodecatheon grow in the Gorge. I believe this is the Poet's Shooting Star, Dodecatheon poeticum.
