Sam Hill was an entrepreneur, a philanthropist, and a visionary. He was the driving force (pardon the pun) behind the Good Roads Movement in the Pacific Northwest. He built the first paved highway in Washington, led in the creation of the Columbia River Highway, built the Peace Arch in Blaine, created a world class museum at Maryhill, and built this full-size replica of Stonehenge as a memorial to soldiers of Klickitat County who died in World War I.

This picture was taken with a full-frame fisheye lens which causes the straight lines of the concrete structure to appear curved. There was one small group of clouds in the sky. As I moved around the monument, I tried to work them into my compositions - see the thumbnail at the left.

Graphically, there are lots of photo possibilities here for the creative photographer. I also have a hunch that, if you were to visit this mock Stonehenge at the equinox or at summer or winter solstice, you just might meet a faux Druid or two.
