Amanita Muscaria is a very common mushroom in the Pacific Northwest, especially on the coast. This mushroom was growing in a shorepine forest near Gold Beach.
The red (in this case) and orange colorings along with the warts make this a very easy mushroom for non-expert like myself to spot. Notice that a number of the warts are missing - you can see where they were. Apparently raindrops will sometimes knock them off.
I think the amanita is a very striking and beautiful mushroom, in spite of its toxic and psychoactive properties.
