This photo of Western Maidenhair fern (Adiantum aleuticum) was taken in the Columbia River Gorge, Oregon, where maidenhair fern grows in great abundance.  It is very common alongside the trails in the canyons that leads to the various waterfalls.  Look for it in steep-walled areas in shady, damp locations.

May and June are the best times to get a nice photo with perfect, fresh foliage.

Western Maidenhair Fern makes a great garden plant. it is fond of shade and damp crevices in rocky places.
