A sunbeam shines on the Pacific Ocean near Depoe Bay, Oregon
This picture was taken at Boiler Bay State Park on the north edge of Depoe Bay. Boiler Bay is a great whale watching location. There are usually a few California Gray Whales that remain along this section of coast all summer. Because the water is very deep along this rocky section of coast, whales frequently come within a hundred yards of the shore or less.

Believe it or not, one time I saw one pass within 20 feet of the base of the rocks.  He was so close that, looking down on the top of his head, I could see both his eyes at the same time.
