The beacon at Heceta Head light house illuminates a light fog hanging in the cove just before dawn.
I took this picture of Heceta Head Light House on a morning when light fog hung in the air between myself and the light house. To prevent the light from being grossly overexposed, each time the beam swung toward me, I held my hat in front of the lens until the beam swung away.

Heceta Head Light may be the most photographed lighthouse in the country. If you want a unique shot of it, be prepared be creative in order to avoid creating a cliche.

Heceta Head is located midway between Florence and Yachats Oregon, just south of the Sea Lion Caves. The keeper's house is operated as a bed and breakfast.
