Large offshore sea stacks in the Pacific Ocean are a forbidding sight under a stormy sky at Oceanside, Oregon.

The village of Oceanside is located on the Three Capes Scenic Drive between Cape Meares and Netarts Bay. Oceanside has a State Wayside with plenty of Parking and a long, wide sandy beach.

The Three Capes Scenic Drive leaves Highway 101 in Tillamook and goes west along the south shore of Tillamook Bay. At the coast, it turns south and proceeds across Cape Meares to Oceanside, Netarts Bay, Cape Lookout State Park, Sand Lake, Tierra del Mar, Cape Kiwanda, and Pacific City.

At Pacific City, Three Capes Scenic Drive turns inland and follows the estuary of the Little Nestucca River back to 101.

The low clouds the day that this picture was taken looked particularly dramatic and turbulent. That effect was emphasized by the use of a 35mm focal length wide angle lens on my Mamiya 645, equivalent to 24mm on a 35mm camera.
