The Breitenbush River is a very pretty stream that flows into the Santiam River at Detroit Reservoir in the Willamette National Forest about 2 hours southeast of Portland, Oregon. Camping, kayaking and trout fishing are popular summer activities. Brieitenbush Hot Springs is located several miles upriver from Detroit.
During October and Novemberkokanee salmon (landlocked sockeye salmon) can be seen spawning in the lower 2 miles of the Breitenbush River.
