Trees, Native Plants, & Wildflowers
This section shows some of the best regional displays of flowers from high Cascade meadows and the Columbia Gorge.
Because of a strong personal interest in wetlands, this is one of the largest assemblage of images on this website. This section includes sagittaria, rushes, bulrushes, nightshade, skunk cabbage, and more.
The native plant gallery includes mostly pictures of Pacific Coast native shrubs such as huckleberry, osoberry, red currant and juniper, but also overlaps with wetland plants and wildflowers.
This section features pictures of native plants, shrubs and trees in their fall colors, especially vine maple. The Pacific Northwest isn't known for autumn color, but it's here if you know where to look.
This section displays photos of native trees both in detail and in forest settings, including douglas fir, western hemlock, bigleaf maple, Oregon ash, ponderosa pine, aspen, and more.
This section of the website currently displays pictures of some of the best native ferns, including sword ferns, licorice ferns, and bracken ferns. I hope to add more material here soon.
My mission for this autumn is to expand this section to include more photos of the many kinds of mushrooms that fruit in Oregon and Washington in the fall.
The Gorge section includes waterfalls, fisheries, landscapes, Stonehenge at Maryhill, historic buildings, windsurfing and kiteboarding. Gorge wildflowers are in the Wildflower section.
Subjects in the Cascades section include Mt. Hood, the Three Sisters, McKenzie Pass, Mt Adams, Mt. St. Helens, Lookout Mountain, Surveyor Ridge and forest scenes.
This gallery displays the Pacific Coast from Vancouver Island in British Columbia to San Simeon in Central California. Many of the photos emphasize a wild or rugged coastline look.
The Canadian Rocky Mountains section shows Banff and Jasper National Parks in Alberta and Yoho National Park in British Columbia plus a few shots from Mount Robson.
This part of the site shows mostly older work including pretty spectacular sunrises and sunsets on the Tualatin River, the Columbia River, the Pacific Ocean, and from Vancouver Island.
The images in the Winter gallery have a common theme of ice and snow. They include huge sculpted icicles, ice covered cliffs, snow and ice covered river boulders, and hoar frost on leaves.
At the moment this section contains views of the Tualatin River, but newly opened public access to the Tualatin National Wildlife Refuge means that I will soon be adding material from a broader area.

The Northwest Landscape
Currently the fastest-growing site section, Home Design Ideas shows appliances, stone countertops, hardwood flooring, plumbing fixtures, windows and doors in both new and remodeled homes.
This small but growing part of the site largely features styles of architecture that are favorites of mine including Art Deco and Streamline Moderne. It also includes weathered buildings and windows.
